Personalized Number Plates

A personalized number plate allows you to select a unique combination of 1–7 letters and/or numbers, followed by your province’s official suffix. Offered through Plates SA, this customization lets you create a distinctive identifier for your vehicle, subject to approval by the Department of Transport.

Key Guidelines:

• Your chosen combination must be registered on your vehicle and cannot include rude, offensive, or obscene content.

• The total characters (excluding the provincial suffix) must not exceed seven.

• The plate must comply with standard regulations, including display of the province-approved hologram, logo, coat of arms, or background design, and must be SABS certified.

Personalized plates are exclusively linked to your vehicle registration and serve as a unique identifier, ensuring no duplication exists for legal and administrative purposes.
